Piercings and tattoos ..time..?

hi quick question...i was planning on getting my lip pierced in the summer when my job was supposed to be closed for a week but we ended up staying open all summer ..so i put it off...but my boss mentioned in about 2 weeks we may be off for 8 days...i was thinking about getting it done either mon or tues so the swelling has time to go down...before i return to work because i help customers all day...the ques i have is in a little over a week im getting my first tattoo...is that too soon for piercings...could tattoos and piercings be done that close together? just wondering if they have anything to do with each other..thanks in advance
