How many years does menopause last?

I've heard many different answers to that question. I can tell you that I have been menopausal since age 44. I am now 55. I still have all the symptoms. Also, I used to work at GNC and I would have these very elderly ladies come in looking for something natural for hot flashes. They had to be in their 70's maybe 80's. It can last a long time. Longer than they tell you in the books that's for sure.
